These are from the first photo shoot I completed exploring the character Blanche. Just really playing around, trying to grasp her personality through styling,poses, post production..... xx

These works explore the concept of role play within society, and my own obsession with assuming a character in order to distance oneself from others and the reality of contemporary life.

Glorification of celebrity, worship, and escapism are themes that operate at the core of these works.

The creation of a narrative following an external character which is separate from myself is a reflection of my own personal obsession and glorification of former starlets. Role play can create barriers from the reality of life and effect personal identity, these are ideas also explored throughout the series.

The series is based upon the formal studio portraits of young actresses and starlets from the 1950s, and were shot in a studio.
